'The ideal family room has adequate seating and different types of seating,' advises Victoria Holly, Principal and Founder of Victoria Holly Interiors. 'You don't want to just have a sofa or just have a sectional – which doesn't allow for a conversation space.'
'I like to have at least three types of seating, such as a sectional or sofa, accent chairs, and then an ottoman. This is great for kids who want to jump around and have fun while watching TV, or use the ottoman to build things or set up a train station, and more.

'Right now, we're seeing a lot of tone-on-tone color with pillows,' says Victoria Holly principal, and founder of Victoria Holly Interiors. 'We're also seeing a movement away from the traditional square- and rectangular-shaped pillows and toward round ball pillows, disc pillows, or abstract-shaped pillows. These pillow shapes add an unexpected dynamic to a sofa and dress it up in a new and exciting way. Disc and ball pillows are great for a more minimalist look, whereas an otherwise square pillow might seem too fussy.'

“I desperately need to organize all my video and photo content for Instagram, including making space for new content. That is high on our to-do list because [it will create] a content library that’s easy to reference. We also need to get rid of all these fabric remnants. We have so many extra pieces of beautiful fabric—it’s too much to discard, and I don’t like to waste, but it gathers. The extra can always be used for throw pillows or accents down the line, but we’re building up quite the inventory at the moment.”

'It's so easy to embrace bold colors in the outdoors since there are so many wonderful and durable outdoor fabrics to choose from today,' says Victoria Holly, principal, and founder of Victoria Holly Interiors. 'This wasn't the case 10 years ago, but now there have been many improvements in fabrics, and dyes and there are so many exceptional offerings out there for throw pillows, cushions, table clothes, and more. Microfibre, polyester to Sunbrella, you can choose the ones that suit your needs.'

“However, for white sofa owner Victoria Holly, there’s a workaround: you just need to be picky about the fabric you choose. ‘I am a firm believer that the fabric content is way more important when it comes to cleaning and durability than the color itself,’ she says. ‘The reality is, if you spill red wine on a navy sofa, you're still going to see it. What matters most is fabric cleanability, so make sure you're using polyester or acrylic – super easy-to-clean materials. It's better to live your life with an easy-to-clean white sofa than it is to worry about stains on a darker sofa.’”
